Sunny Side Up

Dude, seriously, geek.

It's a Sory

So by now everyone's heard of SonyBMG installing spyware as copy protection in people's computers through their music CDs. Here it is in a summary that anyone can understand easily

I can't imagine what they or their lawyers thought of when they hatched the idea in the first place. Probably didn't even consult the lawyers. What's even worse, they included an EULA (End User License Agreement), the kind companies like Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, and Mozilla for example include with their software. It's a music CD for crying out loud, not a damn computer software.

Read what the EULA tells you what you can't do with your CDs'. Pretty nasty eh?

Sony is in serious damage control right now and it's probably worse since the spyware actually allows other people to hack into those computers. Not something you'd look forward to now is it? This is probably one of the worst things that they could have done after having to completely restructure the company and lay off workers.

What's even worse than that is they took the stance that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the spyware and they're going to go back doing it after this initial shock blows over. Even Microsoft distances itself from Sony by declaring war on their spyware

Maybe what Sony needs to do is rename itself to Sory.
