After transparent aluminum, seems that a universal translator isn't far behind. Plant a few electrodes in a person's mouth and you'll no longer need to learn another language. The electrodes will do the translations and the people around you will hear you speak in another language.

Now they just need to perfect the translation software because surely we don't want something like this happening when negotiating a peace treaty:
The results aren't perfect. When Dr. Waibel announced he would take questions from reporters in Germany and America, the computer heard it as "so we glycogen it alternating questions between Germany and America."

It definitely needs an AI that can detect humor, sarcasm, and all the nuances of a typical human conversation.
