End of an era
64 years. Almost feels like forever this book store has been around. While Swanston Street has been undergoing major changes in the last few years, this was one of the few places that remained a constant. Even Melbourne Central has changed massively to something much resembling malls in Asia, especially in Singapore, with its link to the underground station.
At least it hasn't been driven out of business by the bigger bookstore chains like Borders but its new location isn't exactly high traffic and it's probably going to lose its old character.
I don't know, they haven't exactly set up the new place, just shelves with books in a relatively empty place, the old Strathfield store/garage. Maybe in a few weeks they'll have it properly decorated and furnished
