Whoa Apple, whoa!!
Jeez, Apple's not wasting time are they? Not even a week after they launched Mac OS X Tiger, they already got new stuff out. They just rolled out faster iMac G5's a few hours ago, gone is the 17" 1.6GHz, replaced by what used to be the middle end 17" 1.8GHz G5 except now it's got half a gig of RAM, video card powerful enough to handle Tiger's CoreImage, and a 160GB hard drive @_@.
The 2GHz models now sport dual layer slot load DVD burners. I don't think you'd want a PowerMac G5 for home with these babies out. They're more than powerful enough for small production houses let alone home users. I suspect Apple is moving the iMacs from consumer level to mid-range and offering the average consumer the Mac minis instead.
On a related note, I'm still going to do my take on Tiger sometime this week but it might be later than expected.
