Sunny Side Up

Dude, seriously, geek.

Storm lost again

That's two home games in a row and three of the last four games. I'm not angry so much about the loss, no team can expect to win every week but the way the team lost the game was just too far below what they're capable of doing.

Three weeks ago we destroyed Brisbane 50 points to 4 and everyone was looking at the Storm as one of the top contenders for the flag. I mean how could they not, we seriously dumped Newcastle on their heads in week one, flat out killed St. George on our first away game, and handed the Raiders their biggest ever loss at Canberra.

On the other hand, the losses have been a tight game against the high flying Sea Eagles at fort Brookvale, a desperate Penrith Panthers at Penrith, and an unpredictable Parramatta at home. The funny thing about the Storm this season is, we either win by 25+ points or we simply lose. We now sit on 6th with 4 wins and 4 losses but we have the widest for and against margin in the competition, the best strike rate and one of the lowest points against. We have the two most dangerous centers in the competition, the most exciting fullback, the most mobile forwards, and the best halves pairing!!

To lose a game through fumbles, indecisions, and incomplete possession sets is just indescribable. The week before we had arguably the most composed and in form team that went from good to great as the game progressed. A lead of just four points at half time against Canberra exploded to 30 points by the end of the game and we held them scoreless for the entire 2nd half. We held Brisbane scoreless for 70 minutes after an early and lucky try by their captain.

No doubt the Sharks, led by former Storm halfback Brett Kimmorley, watched the video of our loss against the Eels two weeks ago very closely. Our thus far impenetrable inside defense was ripped to shreds as they scored three of their five tries through the middle. Usually other teams could only exploit the overlap on the left and right wings through short range tries but as I said to someone last week, the Sharks have managed to score their majority of tries through the middle and that's exactly what they did on Saturday night. We just had no answer.

Embarassing, absolutely humiliating.
