Sunny Side Up

Dude, seriously, geek.

Too much is (not) enough?

People say choice is good, but I say having too many can be confusing. Take the number of TV stations operating in Jakarta for example. We have RCTI, SCTV, TPI, Global TV, Indosiar, Trans TV, Trans|7, TVRI, ANTV, O Channel, JakTV, Lativi, SpaceToons.

13 TV stations. Ironically the majority of the stations show pretty much the same content; gossip, soap, and games. 13 choices, zero option. I still don't watch local TV.

Speaking of numbers, there are 5 mobile networks operating in Jakarta, Telkomsel, Indosat, XL, Mobile 8, and Three. 5 may be a small number but each operator has prepaid and postpaid services, which make at least 10 options. This is before we break the services down even further.

Telkomsel has Kartu Halo (Post), Simpati (Pre), and As (Pre).
Indosat has Matrix (Post), Mentari (Pre), IM3 (Pre)
XL has Xplor (Post), Bebas (Pre), Jempol (Pre)
3 currently only has one of each.
Mobile 8 has two products as well, Fren prepaid and postpaid

That's 13 mobile network connection options. Talk about spoilt for choices and I haven't mentioned the cheaper CDMA options. Don't get me started on the number of Apple resellers in Jakarta, with the authorized and non-authorized outlets all over the place.
